Installation guide
A general sequence for BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi retrofit screens. Your kit includes a chassis-specific wiring diagram.
Before you start
- Confirm the chassis code and factory system against the fitment table for that model.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait ten minutes.
- Protect the trim and centre console with a cloth before levering.
- Have a plastic trim tool set and a torque driver ready.
Step sequence
- Remove the trim. Vent surrounds and the head unit surround come off first. Work from the bottom edge upward.
- Unbolt the factory unit. Four screws on most BMW and Mercedes chassis; Audi units usually sit on release clips.
- Connect the harness. The loom plugs inline between the car connector and the new head unit. No wire is cut.
- Route the antennas and USB. GPS antenna goes behind the instrument cluster; USB leads drop into the glovebox or centre armrest.
- Test before reassembly. Power on and check audio, controller, reversing camera and steering-wheel buttons.
- Reassemble. Refit the surround and vents, then reconnect the battery.
Common checks after fitting
- No sound: check the fibre-optic or AUX loop in the harness.
- Reversing camera blank: confirm the reverse trigger wire is on the correct pin for that chassis.
- Controller not responding: re-seat the CAN connector and cycle the ignition.
- Radio reception weak: make sure the antenna adapter is fully seated.
